SANDY, Utah – According to the Utah Department of Health’s Sunday report, more than 157,000 vaccines have been administered in the state.
On Monday, one of Salt Lake County’s mass vaccination sites opened to those who eligible Utahns who have made an appointment.
The Mountain America Expo Center is being used as a COVID-19 vaccination site. Health department officials said every dose of the vaccine they have at the center is reserved for someone who is registered.
They said the center is not taking walk-ins, and they currently are not making new appointments.
For a time in 2020, the facility was turned into a makeshift hospital prepared to take COVID-19 patients if hospitals were overwhelmed. The center ended up not being utilized for that purpose.
More than 142,000 Utahns have received the first dose of the vaccine, while more than 14,000 have been fully inoculated with both doses.
