Utah Bill Aims To Bring Back DMV Registration Reminders

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah lawmakers are working on a way to remind forgetful drivers to register their cars.
The DMV recently stopped sending registration reminders through the mail.
Rep. Scott Chew, R-Jensen, said that after the DMV made the switch from postcards to emails last year, many Utahns ended up driving with expired tags.
He’s introduced House Bill 170, which would bring back the post cards for vehicle owners who don’t want emailed notices.
Chew said that “it’s OK to move forward toward electronic” notices, but it can’t be done just “cold turkey.”
The bill passed committee on Monday and will now advance to the full house for consideration.
