SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – Two weeks ago the Ramirez family lost everything, and they had a big scare in the process. While three of the kids were at home with a family friend, a car crashed through their wall.

It pinned 10-year-old Jennifer Ramirez and narrowly missed her older sister and 7-month-old baby brother.

Citlaly Ramirez, 14, described the chaos, saying, “It basically felt like an earthquake and then a really loud boom.”

She said it was terrifying. “I heard her screaming that she wanted to get out (from under) the car,” Ramirez said. “I was scared. I was traumatized. I didn’t know what to do, so I just froze.”

The driver was unconscious, and the baby was unphased.

“He was just looking around like what is going on? He wasn’t crying or screaming,” Ramirez said.

Jennifer Ramirez was under the car, but she only had one thought.

“I only cared about him, not me,” she said. Her 7-month-old brother will most likely never remember what happened that day. But his sisters will, and they are relieved they all made it out alive.

Police have not filed any charges against the driver. They said she showed no obvious signs of impairment and will wait for official toxicology reports to be released.

The family has set up a GoFundMe* page. If you would like to help them, you can click here.
