SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials have unveiled plans for the reconstruction of 300 West in Salt Lake City.
City officials said the project will stretch from 900 South to 2100 South. During a briefing on Facebook Live Wednesday, city planners discussed problems with the current roadway, including missing sidewalks, extensive road damage, utility poles blocking paths and overall dangerous conditions.
The new street design features a two-way cycling path, new pavement, designated turning lanes, new sidewalks, and mid-block cross walks. The road will have two lanes for both north and south traffic, with a park strip on the sides.
Crews will also repair and upgrade utility lines and repaint repaved roads.
Project organizers said the focus will be on people, not just cars.
Construction was expected to start summer 2021 and last through 2023.
