SUMMIT PARK, Utah – A Salt Lake County man died Wednesday in Summit County after he was pinned by a van that had slid on an icy road, authorities said.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, a snowplow operator reportedly witnessed the incident.
“The snowplow operator watched an adult male get out of a cargo van on Saint Moritz Strasse in Summit Park,” according to the SCSO statement. “The van began to slide down the icy roadway – the male went behind the van and attempted to stop it. Unfortunately, he was run over and pinned between the van, a snowbank, and a tree.”
Officials said medical personnel attempted life-saving maneuvers, but the man succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has not been identified, but the sheriff’s office confirmed he was in his 40s and lived in Salt Lake County.
“The incident was nothing short of a weather-related tragic accident,” according to SCSO. “The Summit County Sheriff’s Office offers our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the decedent.”
