17 Utahns Die From COVID-19, Health Officials Say

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Health officials on Wednesday reported 17 additional Utahns have died from COVID-19, and 1,299 more have tested positive.
There are currently 323 people hospitalized with the virus.
Testing
The Utah Department of Health reported a total of 2,094,809 people have been tested so far, which is an increase of 8,988 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 442,476 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19 so far. That’s an increase of 1,299 positive cases over Tuesday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 1,053 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 15.3%, and the rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 7%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 323 people are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 131 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 42 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 80.3% full. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 84% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Health officials reported 17 more Utahns have lost their lives as a direct result of COVID-19, which brings the state’s pandemic death toll to 1,765.

- Male, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, older than 85, Carbon County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Cache County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male. older than 85, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Wasatch County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Box Elder County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Tooele County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
Vaccinations
Utah has administered 442,476 vaccines so far. A total of 325,171 people have received the first dose, and 117,305 Utahns have been been fully immunized with both doses.
There have been 531,985 vaccines delivered to Utah so far.
