SANDY, Utah – Officials with the Canyons School District announced Wednesday will be a remote learning day due to expected heavy snow and dangerous road conditions.
“CSD is heeding the recommendation of Utah transportation officials to avoid traveling on roads Wednesday morning,” officials said. “This means all schools and district offices will be closed for the day, but instruction will continue in line with new state rules that allow school districts to treat “snow days” as remote-learning days.”
UDOT officials issued a winter storm advisory for travel Wednesday morning along the Wasatch Front.
Winter Storm Travel Alert: 4-6 inches of snow on Wasatch Front valley floors expected tomorrow a.m. 12 in. on benches, 20-25 in. for Cottonwood canyons. Drivers should plan ahead, telecommute, or delay travel. Read more on the UDOT website: https://t.co/80QoKHJ5CY. pic.twitter.com/xVWhwB1m6h

Snow totals of 4-6 inches are expected in the valleys along the I-15 corridor, while bench areas are expected to receive up to a foot of snow. The Cottonwood canyons are expected to see 20-25 inches of new snow.
CSD officials said the closure will be for one day only.

“Moving to remote-learning, instead of dismissing classes, benefits both students, by maintaining continuity of instruction, and families, by alleviating the need to adjust their schedules to accommodate make-up days, which can disrupt holidays and summer plans,” officials said.
