7-Day Average Up Slightly As Utah Reports 1,151 People Test Positive For COVID

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – An additional 1,151 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, health officials report, and another seven have died.
Thursday’s report brings the state’s rolling 7-day averages up just slightly.
The state has administered 12,540 more vaccines, bringing the total number to 563,608 doses administered.
There are currently 258 people hospitalized with the virus.
Testing
The Utah Department of Health reports a total of 2,144,709 people have been tested so far, which is an increase of 8,121 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 364,399 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 1,151 new cases since Wednesday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 830 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 13.6%, and the rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 6.25%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 258 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 105 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 33 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 74.3% occupied. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 78.3% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Seven more Utahns have lost their lives to COVID-19, bringing Utah’s pandemic death toll to 1,813.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Thursday:
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Grand County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Cache County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
Utah reports 12,540 more vaccinations have been administered, bringing the total number of doses administered to 563,608.
A total of 384,150 Utahns have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 179,458 have been fully immunized with both doses.
There have been 642,615 doses delivered to Utah so far.
