SLC Firefighters Rescue 18 Animals From Basement Fire

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Crews with the Salt Lake City Fire Department rescued 18 animals from a basement fire Saturday morning.

Officials said firefighters responded to the fire in a home near 450 North and 1400 West. No injuries were reported and four adults were displaced by the blaze.

Six dogs, a large tortoise, two small tortoises, three cats, a parrot, three snakes and two lizards were saved from the flames. Officials said one bird did die.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
