MILFORD, Utah — Union Pacific officials said 28 train cars jumped the tracks during a derailment in Milford.
The incident happened just off of State Route 257 around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Lt. Robert Clark said six of the derailed cars contained flammable liquids, but they were quickly contained.
The remaining cars contained bulk flour, wheat and other commodities.
Members of the Millard County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Fire Department, Hinckley Fire Department and Union Pacific responded to the scene.
Clark said only two people — the conductor and an engineer — were on board, and neither of them were injured.
Authorities don’t know what caused the cars to go off the tracks.
On Sunday, Union Pacific crews worked to remove debris and repair the area.
