Utah Reports 13 More Have Died, Including A Child

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health has reported 13 more Utahns have died from COVID-19 and 560 have tested positive.
One of the people who died was between the ages of 1 – 14, UDOH reported.
Officials said nine of the 13 people who were killed by the virus died before Feb. 1.
The state has administered more than 20,000 additional vaccines, bringing the total to 878,487.
Currently, 187 people are hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports a total of 2,257,389 Utahns have been tested so far, which is an increase of 6,185 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 375,669 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 560 new positive cases since Monday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 529 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 8.8%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 4.24%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 187 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 73 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 23 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 66.2% occupied. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 67.3% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
An additional 13 Utahns have lost their lives as a direct result of COVID-19. Nine of those people died before Feb. 1, officials said.
To date, 1,990 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Tuesday:
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 45-64, Weber County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 45-64, Juab County resident, not hospitalized at the time of death
- Males, between 65-84, Utah County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 1-14, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Health authorities said there is no additional public information available about the child who died due to medical privacy laws.
“This is a tragic reminder that we must continue to be vigilant about public health precautions,” UDOH said in a statement.
Vaccinations
The state administered 20,737 more vaccines since Monday’s data, bringing the total number of shots in arms to 878,487.
A total of 575,525 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 319,127 residents have been immunized with two doses.
So far, 1,070,975 vaccines have been shipped to the state.
