LEWISTON, Utah — A 3-year-old has died in what Cache County authorities say was a possible drowning in Lewiston.
Members of the Cache County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched just before noon Saturday after receiving reports of a missing child.
Officers were told the child was last seen riding a battery-powered 4-wheeler and that the vehicle was found in the river behind a home in Lewiston.
Before first responders arrived, the 3-year-old was also found in the river. Life saving measures were attempted immediately.
The child was then transported to a local hospital where life saving efforts continued, but the 3-year-old did not survive.
Officials with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the cause of death.
“Our initial investigation indicates this is a tragic accident,” read a press release from the CCSO.
The victim’s name and gender were not immediately available.
