‘It’s How We Get Our Lives Back’: Utah Has Officially Administered 1 Million Vaccines

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported a significant milestone in the battle against COVID-19.
“More than 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state,” according to a UDOH statement. “For those of you who have already gotten your shots, thank you. For the rest of you, please get the vaccine when it’s your turn. It’s how we get our lives back.”
Utah Hits Milestone As More Than 1 Million Vaccines Administered
The department reported 15,861 additional vaccines have given to Utahns since Saturday’s numbers were released, bringing the total to 1,009,029 shots in arms.
Health officials noted Saturday’s report included a duplication error, and that error has since been fixed.
Six more Utahns have died as a result of COVID-19, and 396 more have tested positive.
There are currently 167 people hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports 2,289,803 residents have been tested so far, which is an increase of 4,089 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 378,379 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 396 new positive cases since Saturday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 507 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 8.5%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 4.12%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 167 people are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 63 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 14 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are now 71.6% occupied. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 73.1% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Six more Utahns have lost their lives as a direct result of COVID-19, bringing the state’s pandemic death toll to 2,027.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Sunday:
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
- Male, older than 85, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, not hospitalized
Vaccinations
A total of 1,009,029 vaccines have been administered in Utah, which as increase of 15,861 since yesterday.
So far, 667,949 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 365,176 Utahns have been fully immunized.
There have been 1,146,170 vaccines delivered to Utah.
