You Should Shop Around For Car Insurance

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – When was the last time you compared car insurance rates?
Many people just stick with what works, but that could mean potentially leaving money on the table every month that could make a difference in your budget.
According to a recent survey, only about 30% of drivers shop around the recommended once or twice a year for the best rates.
A quarter of those asked said they checked rates every few years, but 40% of drivers said they never look for new car insurance.
They stay with what they know – sometimes for years or even decades.
For most of the country in 2020, vehicle insurance rates fell as fewer people were commuting. In Utah, though, car insurance rates actually went up 2% year over year.
Utahns pay on average $1,313 dollars a year for a policy, though, which is still below the national average of $1,483.
Those who live in Vineyard pay more than anyone in the Beehive State, with annual insurance costs at $1,637 per year.
So how can you save money other than just changing providers altogether? There are several options.
You can boost your credit score, raise your deductible, bundle with homeowners or renters insurance, or buy a used car and, if you can, pay in-full as opposed to prorated across 6 – 12 months.
