SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Starting Monday, all Salt Lake County residents ages 16 and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Salt Lake County will begin administering vaccines at 9 a.m.
Eligibility to begin making appointments opens up to those 16 and older in the rest of the state starting Wednesday.
The earlier eligibility date comes days after Gov. Spencer Cox made the announcement that all residents would be able to start making appointments more than a week earlier than planned.
Each health department is handling appointments a little differently.
Utah County opened its registration Thursday and has already scheduled appointments for those 16 and older starting on Wednesday. In Davis County, appointments for all Utahns opened last Wednesday, and immunizations are booked through April 3.
“As always, I want to encourage everyone to please be patient,” Cox said. “Phone lines may be jammed, servers may be backed up, and the vaccine won’t be available to everyone in Utah for a few weeks. But we’re headed in the right direction.”
