SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A new month brings with it a new list of things to buy or skip to make sure you save some money.
Deal News and Nerd Wallet both listed out some options for your frugal shopping enjoyment.
Buy
Beginning with Easter, there should be a lot of candy left on the shelves to pick through, such as jelly beans and Reese’s eggs and chocolate bunnies.
Shoe sales are all over the place right now, with some prices 20-60% off.
KSL’s Dan Spindle actually just took advantage of a buy-one-get-one-half-off sale at Famous Footwear. You could save some money, too.
It’s got to be the spring cleaning, but vacuum cleaners are on sale too, so check out brands like Roomba, Dyson and Shark.
Tax Day isn’t until next month with the IRS extension, so look for the deals you typically see on April 15 on May 17.
And Deal News also said to head to places like Deseret Industries, Goodwill and other consignment stores this month because people have been cleaning out their junk that could be your new living room sofa or some fine art you hang on the wall.
Skip
Make sure to avoid the temptation to stock up on summer items — summer clothes won’t go on sale until well into the summer and those later months of July or August.
Large appliances go on sale around Memorial Day, so you’ve still got a good six weeks to wait.
Try to get some more life out of that old grill because those don’t go on sale until the fall and you can always tell when someone in the neighborhood is cooking up some steaks or burgers — there’s nothing wrong with that old red and black charcoal standard grill.
Get the fancy one in October and store it away until next spring.
