SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Customers can trade in any car seat at a Target store and receive a 20% off coupon toward a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear.
The trade-in runs through April 17 and coupons, which can be applied to in-store and online purchases, are eligible through May 1.
“During the trade-in event Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management,” officials said.
Officials said customers must be enrolled in Target Circle to participate in the trade-in and receive a coupon. Drop boxes will be placed at stores, and scan sheets will be placed on the boxes for customers to scan from their mobile devices.
Customers can trade in up to two car seats.
Target said 1.1 million car seats or 17 million pounds of plastic have been recycled since the program started in 2016.
