Draper Business Owner Says Same Burglar Hit Twice In Last Month

DRAPER, Utah—A business owner was hoping Tuesday to find the burglar he believes hit his store twice within the past month.
Steve Mayer said the latest heist at Cloud 9 Paragliding and Adventure Toy Store over the weekend was carried out similarly to one three weeks prior, in which the suspect appeared to pick the lock, go away for a little while and then come back in through the unlocked door to steal products.
“It’s more just the sense of violation,” Mayer said. “We do have a lot of stuff in here. If somebody really hit us it would cripple us.”
In the most recent burglary, Mayer said the thief stole a paramotor that was placed near the front door.

Mayer said the suspect took two one-wheels during the previous theft.
Surveillance video showed the burglar wearing different attire during each theft.
In both videos, the burglar appeared to arrive and leave in the same pickup truck. In the earlier theft, a cab was attached.
“They say this area actually gets hit quite a bit, just being industrial and kind of off the freeway,” Mayer said.
Mayer acknowledged his business had been burglarized 5 times now in recent years, despite adding bars to windows and the front door and installing numerous security cameras.
He said he was grateful his business survived the pandemic, but big losses due to burglaries hurt.
“We just can’t afford losses like this, no matter how small or big it is,” Mayer said.
Draper Police said late Tuesday they were investigating the cases.
Anybody with information was asked to call dispatch at 801-840-4000.
