FARMINGTON, Utah – Strong winds with gusts of up to 70 mph are possible across the northern Wasatch Front, especially along the Interstate 15, U.S. Highway 89 and Legacy Parkway corridors between Farmington and South Weber.
A high wind warning will be in effect in the area through noon Wednesday.
The Utah Department of Transportation said high-profile vehicles will be prohibited from driving along I-15 and U.S. 89 through mid-morning.
This includes semi, RVs, and other light or high profile vehicles, according to UDOT. #utwx https://t.co/gN6B1Rudy3

Gusts over 50 mph were reported across the northern Wasatch Front, including a gust of 84 mph at the mouth of Weber Canyon.
Westbound I-80 was closed at the mouth of Parleys Canyon due to a crash and westbound I-84 was closed 19 miles north of the I-15 junction in Box Elder County.
KSL meteorologist Grant Weyman said winds should calm down Wednesday afternoon, but rain and a rain/snow mix are possible across the northern two-thirds of Utah.

Rocky Mountain Power officials told KSL the company has hundreds of employees on standby to deal with any power outages.
However, they feel confident in the technology and infrastructure since repairs were made following last fall’s windstorm event.
