One Killed In Crash Involving Street Racing

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One person was killed when their vehicle was struck by another vehicle involved in an illegal street race, according to police.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday on 900 South near 3300 West in Salt Lake City.

Lt. Lisa Pascadlo from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the uninvolved vehicle made a U-turn in front of the racing vehicles.

One of the racers struck the vehicle.

The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment, but died of their injuries.

He was later identified as 25-year-old Dakota Enman.

Officials said the race driver who struck the turning vehicle remained at the scene. They were not initially arrested, though charges were pending following a toxicology screening.

Pascolda said the driver could face charges ranging from a traffic violation for street racing to vehicular manslaughter.
