BOUNTIFUL, Utah — One man was killed and two rescue workers — a police officer and firefighter — were injured in a hot, fast-moving house fire in Bountiful.
The fire broke out around 10 a.m. Friday on Maple Hollow Way, near Mueller Park.
Police were the first to arrive on scene.
South Davis Fire officials said the blaze began in the basement, but quickly spread to the roof.

Initial reports were that two people were inside the house.
At least one person was able to make it out, but the second person, an adult male, was found in the basement of the home “where a lot of the high heat and flames were,” said Deputy Chief Greg Stewart with the South Davis Metro Fire Department.
Fire officials said the blaze was burning so hot and fast that the flames injured a police officer and burned through a firefighter’s protective gear.
That firefighter was transported to the hospital to be treated for second-degree burns.
Neighbors told KSL-TV the victim was very well known in the community and his family was heavily involved in their local church.
His identity has not been released.
Damage to the home was estimated at $800,000.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
We are working with @SDMFA on a major
incident at the east end of 1800 South. Please do not
drive through the area to try and get a look. You won’t
get close enough to see anything and you’ll just be in
the way. Please allow room for resources to move in and out of the area. pic.twitter.com/c0CJdF7iLO— BountifulCityPD (@bountifulcityPD) May 14, 2021
