HYRUM, Utah — A fire at Air Purification Systems in Hyrum destroyed part of the business.
The Hyrum City Fire Department was notified just before 10 a.m. Monday after an individual who was leaving flowers at the nearby cemetery said they saw smoke coming from the east side of the structure.
Assistant Fire Chief Blake Christensen with HCFD said crews arrived to find heavy smoke but no flames coming out of the building on Main Street.
Firefighters entered the facility and extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes.
Christensen said half of the building is used for manufacturing, while the other half is for administration.
The fire was contained to the administrative half of the building, he said, and crews were able to save some filing cabinets with accounting information.
Officials believe there was between $250,000 and $300,000 worth of damage, adding that the building will need to be gutted.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, according to Christensen.
