KAYSVILLE, Utah – Southbound Interstate 15 was closed for several hours in Davis County after a multi-vehicle crash killed two people and injured three more, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened in Kaysville at Burton Lane around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after a catering company lost its load of canvas bags.
Two cars stopped for the debris and troopers said a green Ford F-250 came upon the traffic and collided with a red Toyota Prius from California, which then struck a Chevrolet Malibu.
The two occupants of the Prius — an adult male and an adult female — were killed in the crash.
One man was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition while two occupants from the Malibu were taken by ambulance to an area hospital in serious condition.
Troopers said the driver of the F-250 was treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Southbound I-15 was closed at 200 North in Kaysville until crews opened the HOV lane just before 11 p.m. Tuesday. Troopers said the crash is still under investigation.
