Body Of Missing Sandy Woman Located; Police Investigating Death As Suspicious

SANDY, Utah — The body of a missing 53-year-old woman was located late Sunday night, according to officials with the Sandy Police Department.

Police said search dogs found Masako Kenley’s body was found in thick brush along the Jordan River, near 8900 South and 700 West.

Friends said Kenley left her home around 4 p.m. Friday to meet up with friends for dinner in Layton, but she never made it.

They found her van parked down at a Costco in Sandy, but there was no sign of her in the vehicle.

Family friend Adam Clayton said they tracked down surveillance footage showing the van arriving at 8:18 a.m. Saturday.

“But they couldn’t see who got out of the car, so we don’t know if it was dumped there or if she parked it there,” Clayton said. “We really don’t know details.”

Hundreds of neighbors and volunteers gathered Sunday morning to search for Kenley, beginning in the area near Auto Mall Drive and canvassing Sandy and Midvale.

“With Costco kind of as that epicenter,” said Clayton. “We’re kind of going out, up to 9000 South, down to 12300.”

Police located Kenley’s body in a heavily wooded area after 11 p.m. Sunday.

Officials said Kenley’s death is being investigated as suspicious. Anyone with information was asked to contact officers at 801-799-3000.
