Cedar City Bracing for More Wet Weather
CEDAR CITY, Utah — All day folks have been picking up sandbags and filling them during a busy week for Cedar City residents.
Many bags came into Cedar City from Utah County. As Cedar City hopes for the best, they’re prepared for the worst.
With rain clouds looming overhead the city is preparing for another round of storms. This could lead to more flooding like residents saw Monday.
But more help is coming. Thousands of sandbags arrived this afternoon from Utah County. Mayor Maile Wilson says it all started with a text to Vineyard’s mayor last night.

“I think I texted her at 7, 8 o’clock at night and by today we’ve had this amazing turnout of over 25,000 bags,” Wilson-Edwards said.
While the next few days will surely be unpredictable one thing is certain: the community support.
“That’s one thing that makes Utah so amazing,” the mayor said.
You can stop by and pick up or help fill sand bags at the Public City Works building in Cedar City.
A delivery just like the one of 25,000 sand bags to Cedar City was also sent to Moab from Utah County cities to assist with their flash flooding.
