School Canceled In Delta Due To Flood Damage; Flash Flood Watches In Effect Across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Officials with the Millard School District said school has been canceled for all Delta schools due to flood damage while over 2,500 Utahns were without power Wednesday morning.
Flash flood watches remain in effect across the state Wednesday, and the National Weather Service issued multiple flash flood warnings for portions of southern Utah.

Around 600 residents in Delta and surrounding communities were without power Wednesday, along with hundreds along the Wasatch Front.
Initially, Rocky Mountain Power crews reported over 6,000 Utahns lost power overnight.
A tree branched toppled a power line in Bountiful and the Utah Transit Authority reported a downed power line was blocking FrontRunner tracks between Woods Cross and North Temple.
The line blocking FrontRunner tracks was cleared around 7:30 a.m. and Bountiful crews estimated power would be restored to the area of 200 West to 500 West from 1000 North to 1400 North around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Large portions of central and southern Utah will be under a flash flood watch throughout the day Wednesday.
Meteorologists urged drivers to avoid flooded roads and said Utahns should keep an eye on burn scars for potential flooding and debris flows.
An areal flood warning is now in effect for SW Garfield, SE Iron, NW Kane, NE Washington Counties until 2 PM. All dry washes, slot canyons, small streams and mainsteam rivers will be running very high. Currently, mainstem river flood stages are not expected to be exceeded #utwx
