Elder Dean M. Davies of the Seventy dies after extended cancer battle

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Dean M. Davies of the Seventy died Tuesday night after an extended battle with cancer in North Salt Lake, according to officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was 69 years old.
Elder Davies was called to be a General Authority Seventy at the October 2020 General Conference after serving as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric for eight years.
He also worked as managing director of the Church’s Special Projects Department, overseeing special purpose real estate, temple design and temple construction.
“The Salt Lake City native’s other volunteer Church services included time as president of the Puerto Rico San Juan Mission, mission president’s counselor, stake president, stake president’s counselor, stake executive secretary, high councilor, service in several bishoprics and a full-time missionary in the Uruguay/Paraguay Mission,” officials said.
Church officials added arrangements for Elder Davies’ funeral are being made. He is survived by his wife, Darla, their five children and 17 grandchildren.
