Weisberg said officers then attempted to contact the suspect.
“Despite all the efforts by the patrol officers on scene, the person did not respond to their attempts to communicate with him,” said Weisberg.
He went on to say, based on preliminary information police have, the person may have access to a firearm and has made threats.
SWAT personnel, crisis negotiators and social workers were then called out to assist with the incident.
“As part of the investigation, we did send out a reverse 9-1-1 alert to nearby neighbors, asking them to stay inside during this incident,” said Weisberg. “That was done out of an abundance of caution because we do believe this person has access to firearms.”
