SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A new luxury car dealership in the Salt Lake Valley became the target of vandals last weekend. Those vandals did thousands of dollars in damage.
The new Lamborghini, Bentley dealership in South Jordan opened for business three months ago.
Owner Tom Buckley says it’s been fun to watch the community embrace his new business.
With 18-million dollars in inventory, Buckley didn’t cut costs when it came to his security system.
“We have 26 cameras,” Buckley tells KSL-TV as he watches every inch and angle of his dealership, inside and out.
His office, above the sales floor, looks like a command center. Those cameras don’t just record.
“They’re looking for motion, they’ll also detect if it’s a person or car.”
Early Saturday morning, the cameras caught 18 full minutes of two men on Buckley’s car lot.
They came through the back, and from the security video, it appears they start vandalizing cars, to the tune of 20-thousand dollars.
“They don’t realize this is a small, family-owned business,” says Buckley. So, damage like this is something he will have to pay for.
Buckley says he posted the crystal-clear surveillance on social media and became inundated with tips and a couple of names that keep coming to the surface.
Police haven’t commented on the case yet, but Buckley believes they are days away from busting the men. And, when they do, he wants to hear from them.
“They owe me an apology, they owe the company an apology, and most of all, they owe (about) 20-thousand dollars in property damage.”
