One dead after 5-car crash on Bangerter Highway

WEST JORDAN, Utah — One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down a portion of Bangerter Highway for several hours Friday night.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. near 7700 South on northbound Bangerter Highway.

Sgt. Doug Saunders with the West Jordan Police Department said five cars were involved in the crash, adding that traffic was rolling to a stop on the roadway when another vehicle traveling northbound collided into the rear of the vehicles.
One person died as a result of the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Saunders said all parties involved are cooperating with police.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
