LAYTON, Utah — A 16-year-old boy died after he was struck by a pickup truck Thursday night, according to officials with the Layton Police Department.
Police said the boy was in a crosswalk at the intersection of Main Street and Angel Street, but he crossed the road against the right of way.
The 71-year-old driver of the truck, who had a green light while driving southbound on Main Street, struck the boy around 8:30 p.m.
Officers said the boy was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the driver is cooperating with authorities and there are no signs of DUI. Police said there was heavy rain in the area at the time of the crash, which may have reduced visibility.
