TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — At least two teenagers were transported to the hospital with critical injuries after they were struck by a car while out trick-or-treating in Taylorsville.
The incident happened at the intersection of 2700 West and Matterhorn Drive (6375 South) around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Chief Brady Cottam with the Taylorsville Police Department said a group of four teenagers were in the crosswalk when three of them were hit by a sedan that was traveling southbound on 2700 West.
Two were transported to the hospital, according to Cottam — one in extreme critical condition and the other in critical condition.
The third teenager sustained minor injuries.
He said the victims are in their early teens, approximately 13 or 14 years old.
Details on the extent of their injuries were not immediately available.

Cottam said investigators told him the area where the crash occurred was not extremely well-lit, but it also wasn’t pitch dark.
The sedan that struck the teens had three occupants — an adult man, who was driving, an adult woman and a child. Cottam said none of them were injured in the crash.
The chief also said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
In the meantime, Cottam urged drivers to slow down.
“I would just beg our citizens to slow down, especially in neighborhood areas, but just in general,” said Cottam. “Kids are all over… having fun on Halloween, celebrating the holidays, so we ask everybody to slow down.”
