Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-15

DRAPER, Utah — A motorcyclist has died after crashing into the back of a car on Interstate 15 in Draper.
The incident happened near 12000 South around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol said a Yamaha motorcycle “was traveling recklessly” on southbound I-15.
“Multiple reports were made that the motorcycle changed lanes into the HOV lane where he didn’t slow in time and struck the rear end of a Toyota Prius,” read a press release from UHP.

When troopers arrived on scene, they found the motorcyclist with injuries that were “non-survivable.”
The four occupants in the Prius, all teenagers, were uninjured, according to troopers.
Cleared: All lanes are now open on SB I-15 at 12000 S (MP 292) in Draper and traffic flow is normal.

The three left lanes were closed for several hours, causing major delays on the freeway.
All lanes reopened around 9:30 p.m., according to officials with the Utah Department of Transportation.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
