SOUTH JORDAN– A parent’s worst nightmare: not being able to find your children.
According to court documents, a father, who wasn’t named, woke up to a knock at the door when he noticed his daughters were no longer playing on the main floor. He had been up with his daughters when he said he wasn’t feeling well and went to take a nap Saturday morning. When he awoke to answer the door, there was a neighbor that had brought over Christmas gifts for the father’s four children…who were no where to be found.
The father searched the house, other neighbor’s homes, and nearby parks but was unable to find his daughters. After noticing winter coats and shoes of the four kids were still in the home, he found bare footprints in the snow leading away from the house and became suspicious that their mother and his ex-wife, Allison Brimhall, had taken the girls.
The father had heard that Allison Brimhall, who had been living in California, was in town for some dental work. According to court documents, records indicated that Brimhall had rented a white Toyota Tacoma. A ping was done on Brimhall’s phone and showed she was in San Diego, California. It was at this point that an Amber Alert was issued for the missing girls.
The Utah Division of Child and Family Services informed detectives that Brimhall was seriously unstable and had made comments like, if she couldn’t have her children, then no one could, and she would drive off a cliff with the children in the car.
The children had been temporarily placed with their father until a more permanent arrangement could be worked out meanwhile Brimhall had supervised visitations with the children.
Brimhall will face four counts of kidnapping and is being held without bail.
