Suspect wanted in connection to fatal SLC shooting arrested in Oregon

SALT LAKE CITY — A man who was wanted in connection to a shooting that left one dead at a Salt Lake City gas station has been taken into custody in Oregon.
Officials with the Salt Lake City Police Department said investigators received a tip regarding the suspect’s name and location and coordinated with law enforcement in Oregon to take the suspect into custody
Authorities said the suspect was booked into jail in Oregon on unrelated charges.

“Detectives are working with prosecutors in Oregon and in Salt Lake County to file formal charges related to the homicide in our local jurisdiction,” SLCPD officials said in a press release. “Due to the ongoing investigation, the suspect’s name, age and other information surrounding the arrest are not being released.”
The homicide investigation began on Dec. 10 after police responded to a shooting at the Maverik gas station near 310 South and 900 East.

Police arrived on scene within four minutes and took over life-saving efforts from witnesses, but the victim, who was later identified as 32-year-old Christopher James Taylor, died at the scene.
Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from an isolated altercation between the victim and suspect.
