CLINTON, Utah — Officials with the Clinton Police Department said one man was shot and killed by police after he stabbed another man and a woman.
CPD Chief Shawn Stoker said investigators believe the incident started when the suspect got into an argument with another man who was living at the same home near 1700 North and 1300 East Thursday evening.
“Although we are in the very preliminary stages, what we know of the case at this point is that the male suspect had been temporary living here in this city and arrived home and, immediately upon entering the home, got involved in an altercation with another male that was in the basement (and) unprovoked, stabbed that male,” Stoker said.
Authorities said an uninvolved woman left her home when she heard the commotion and screaming and encountered the suspect in the street.
Stoker said the suspect stabbed her multiple times before he continued down the street and ran into officers.
That confrontation between the suspect and officers “resulted in shots being fired,” Stoker said.
The suspect was pronounced dead and Stoker said both victims were alive and expected to survive.
It’s believed that the suspect and male victim knew each other, and the female victim did not know the suspect.
Police did not say if drugs were involved.
