SUNSET, Utah — A fire broke out at the Circle Inn Pizzeria at 2253 North Main in Sunset around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Wendy Brimhall with the Clearfield Fire Department called it a two-alarm fire and said crews fought for hours to contain it.
Chief Mark Becraft with the North Davis Fire District said the restaurant had closed at 10 p.m. and the alarm went off at 11:30 p.m. Multiple units were dispatched and arrived quickly but Becraft said the older building was already “heavily involved” in fire.
According to Becraft, assignments were given in an effort to protect the furniture store that stands adjacent to the pizzeria.
Fire departments worked through the night to battle the blaze and Becraft said it was difficult to fight due to freezing temperatures that would freeze their water.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
No one was injured in the fire, although the damages to the restaurant were estimated at $2 million. The furniture store, however, was saved completely.
Fire departments are urging people to stay clear of the area as it is still considered very dangerous and likely to collapse. Crews are working to secure the scene and some demolition may be necessary.
