Child dead, mother in serious condition after Layton car crash

LAYTON, Utah — A serious car crash Monday left a mother in serious condition and led to the death of her 2-year-old child the following day from injuries related to the crash. The crash occurred Monday when the woman’s vehicle heading eastbound was struck by a snowplow attempting to enter the freeway at state Route 193 and Fort Lane, according to police.
Travis Lyman with the Layton Police Department said both the mother and child were transported to local hospitals in serious condition and the child, a 2-year-old boy, died at the hospital Tuesday.

The crash delayed traffic as drivers were urged to use Antelope Drive while the crash was investigated.
