SALT LAKE CITY — A work trailer, full of thousands of dollars in equipment, was stolen from a job site in Federal Heights, and now the owner wants help trying to track it down.
Peter Crandall is the owner of PC Masonry. He’s worked in specialty concrete for more than three decades.
That stolen trailer was full of tools he’s been acquiring all those years.
The street to the Federal Heights job site is lined with cameras that caught thieves in the act.
Neighbors believe the thieves, driving what appears to be a large half-ton black truck, had staked out the location.
“There’s valuable tools, like compactors, saws, and drills and things of that nature,” Crandall told KSL-TV. “And then, there’s a lot of hand tools that don’t have a lot of value, other than to us.”
Crandall said he’s devastated by the loss and has spent much of the past week finding and buying new expensive equipment.
Crandall said the concrete work he and his team complete is specialty work that not many companies offer. He’s spent years perfecting his craft and had hoped to retire this year. This loss will set him back.
He said the trailer itself is old and hideous. He calls it “the ugliest trailer in Salt Lake,” with one side covered in graffiti. But the tools inside are worth around $20,000.
It’s a big loss for Crandall and his small crew.
He has this message for the crooks.
“I’m thinking, get a job. There’s lot of jobs out there and earn your money. Don’t steal from working people.”
