HERRIMAN, Utah — Darrell Robinson cleans up after six children at home and now he cleans up after 2,400 teens at Mountain Ridge High School.
“They do so much!” Robinson said about the custodial staff.
The school is 391,000 square feet and has 8 janitors.
The Jordan School District said it has a dire need for custodial staff and the district would need to hire 60 employees to get back to normal staffing levels.
It’s what led Robinson, who is a school board member, to help.
“Making the school board decisions is the easy stuff!” Robinson joked as cleaned the floors.
Something that can't be SWEPT under the rug — a shortage of custodial staff in the Jordan School District.

He is taking vacation time to help out every Friday. His employer, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, happily approved the request.
“This is a way for me to serve,” Robinson said. “We do it for the kids.”
The district also offers a program for students to become “sweepers” that allows them to help clean after school.
