Utah officer killed while visiting for son’s graduation in Alabama

ALABAMA— The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office announced Sergeant Adrian Hillin had passed away after he, his wife, and youngest son were involved in a traffic accident in Russell County, Alabama. A statement from Sevier Police states the Utah family was out of town to attend a military graduation for their oldest son.
Hillin was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife and son were taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries according to AL.com.
A 50-year-old woman, Stacy L. James was also killed in the accident.
The crash occurred at 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of Alabama 208 and Alabama 165. According to authorities, Hillin was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima that collided with James’ 2017 Nissan Altima at which point Hillin’s car left the road and struck a building.
The post by Sevier Police stated, “Sgt. Adrian Hillin began his law enforcement career with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office in August of 2000 where he had an assignment in the jail. Adrian was assigned to patrol in 2003. He was later promoted to Sergeant in February of 2009 where he has been an example to the deputies he supervised. He loved interdiction and had good success. We offer our sincere condolences to the Hillin and Roberts families.”
