Police searching for driver after fatal hit-and-run

SALT LAKE CITY — A man is dead after being hit by a car in Salt Lake City Saturday morning and police say the driver who hit the man did not stop after the crash.
Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating the crash, they say they were called to the scene shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday to reports of a man down.
SLCPD says the victim is a 61-year-old man who suffered critical injuries and died on the scene despite lifesaving efforts from officers.
The Crash Analysis Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene, according to a press release from SLCPD.
There is no suspect description or vehicle description available at this time. Police say the suspect vehicle likely has front-end damage.
The victim is not being identified by police at this time, due to pending next of kin notifications.
SLCPD says this is the city’s third traffic related fatality so far this year.
