Social media gives behind the scenes look at Team USA in Beijing

BEIJING — Much of our lives revolves around social media. Liking, retweeting, snapping, swiping right — it’s all a normal part of the day.

Social media is also giving us a behind the scenes look at a day in the life of Team USA athletes during their time in Beijing.

“She had an opportunity to do something really special out here, and Olympic champion, I’m speechless,” Brittany Bowe said about her teammate, Erin Jackson.

The friendship between speedskaters Bowe and Jackson became much more apparent during the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Going into her Bronze-winning run, Bowe’s friend, who also won Gold, tweeted about her friend as a mentor, teammate, and sister.

Then, there was TikTok.

From lucky rabbits feet, to point-of-view cameras, and even athletes have cravings.

“If I could have any meal right now, it would definitely be my mom’s lasagna and a nice salad,” Utah’s Colby Stevenson said in a video.

Some athletes were just plain messing around.

In one video, Anna Hoffman gave us a mini tour of the Great Wall of China.

And Canadian speedskaters joked about figure skating doubles.

Other videos showed Olympic bloopers, to athletes running late to their events.
