TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A police chase ended in Taylorsville with a vehicle crashing into a gas line, forcing dozens of people to evacuate their homes.
Sgt. Orin Neal with the Taylorsville Police Department said officers noticed an occupied stolen vehicle near 6000 South Redwood Rd. around 11:30 p.m. Monday, and they were able to spike the vehicle’s tires.
Police tried to stop the car but the suspect fled into a nearby neighborhood, where they crashed into a building on Glencoe Drive and struck a gas line.
Neal said no injuries were reported and the driver was taken into custody. Between 12 and 16 apartments were evacuated while crews worked to repair the ruptured gas line.
