Utah Avalanche Center issues warning for this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Avalanche Center has issued a warning about a serious avalanche threat this weekend.
“The Utah Avalanche Center is issuing a special avalanche bulletin for Saturday, March 12, 2022. We are very worried that a serious avalanche accident could occur this weekend,” read a news release from the agency.

UAC officials went on to say that there is considerable avalanche danger across northern and central Utah.
“This is when we see the most accidents and fatalities,” stated the release.
The center highly encourages skiiers to have an avalanche beacon, shovel and probe. And they say to avoid being on, near, or under all steep slopes, especially those more than 30 degrees in steepness.
