LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said a 5-year-old child died in an ATV crash Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 2 p.m. in Havasu Heights, Arizona.
Deputies said the young boy was the only person on the ATV. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died.
A news release said, “The investigation revealed that the ATV was traveling northbound on N. Sky View Dr. when it appeared that the throttle may have stuck open on the ATV and the child was unable to stop it.”
A family member on another ATV tried to pull alongside and pull off the boy but he could not grab him and the boy’s ATV crashed into a block wall.
Deputies said the boy was wearing a helmet and “at this point, there (are) no criminal violations suspected in the crash.”
Authorities did not identify the boy but said he was from the Lake Havasu City area.
