Driver taken into custody after traveling wrong-way on I-15

CENTERVILLE, Utah — A wrong-way driver that traveled along Interstate 15 from Farmington to Centerville has been stopped, according to officials with the Utah Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Maj. Jeff Nigbur with UHP wrote on social media that troopers attempted to hit the vehicle twice, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped after it exited I-15 at Centerville, according to UHP Sgt. Cameron Roden, and was hit by an officer with the Centerville Police Department.
“A Centerville Officer, was able to forcefully stop the car using a P.I.T. type maneuver forcing the Honda against the Guardrail on the northbound on ramp to I-15. She had the driver out at gun point when all other law enforcement arrived,” read a statement from UHP to KSL.
The driver has been taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
UHP officials said the on-ramp was shut down for approximately 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
