SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating after officers stopped a wrong-way driver who is 14 years old in downtown Salt Lake City.
Officials with the Salt Lake City Police Department say the van the teen was driving had been reported as stolen, and the van’s owner reported $6,000 of property was missing.
The traffic stop comes after Utah has seen a spike in wrong-way crashes. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, seven people have died in over 40 wrong-way crashes this year.
Last week, troopers arrested a wrong-way driver in Parleys Canyon on suspicion of DUI while another wrong-way driver was stopped on I-15 in Davis County and arrested.
