Out of control fire destroys hay barn, 300 tons of hay near Spanish Fork

LAKE SHORE, Utah — A hay barn, a few cars, and approximately 300 tons of hay were destroyed Saturday after a fire got out of control in the Lakeshore area west of Spanish Fork.
The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
Officials with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said a landowner was burning ditches “when wind picked up and started nearby hay and the hay barn on fire.”
The Spanish Fork Fire Department responded, as well as the Salem, Woodland Hills, Payson and Mapleton fire departments, according to the Utah County Fire Marshal.

Minor injuries were reported.
