SEVIER COUNTY, Utah — A 26-year-old woman died Sunday after authorities say she fell an estimated 75 to 100 feet while hiking in Sevier County.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. in an area near what locals call the “Bulls head.”
Officials with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said Candice Thompson of Richfield was hiking with her husband, an officer with the Richfield Police Department, when she tragically fell.
“At the time, her husband was with her and called 911 while running to try to get to her,” read a Facebook post from the agency.
First responders arrived on scene and began life saving measures before Thompson was transported to a waiting ambulance.
“A medical helicopter was also on scene, but they were not able to get Candice’s vitals stable enough to be transported by helicopter,” stated the post.
Thompson was transported by ambulance to Sevier Valley Hospital, but unfortunately, she died from her injuries.
“While the investigation is ongoing, evidence at the scene indicates the fall was an accident and foul play is not suspected,” concluded the post.
